Happy Owners of Havanese Puppies!

Isabel is doing really well. She’s a great little traveler and has gone with me on the plane back and forth to Florida, Texas, South Carolina several times. She is both easy and a delight to take places. Isabel and I met a friend for dinner the other night at an outdoor restaurant that allows dogs. As you may recall from previous updates, Isabel used to be very, very shy with people, especially men. As we watched Isabel greet everyone (both male and female) who came up to the restaurant like a one-pooch, tail-wagging welcoming committee, my friend commented on how far she’s come. She’s such a little sweetie. I’ve attached some semi-recent photos for you.
HI Duane, Marvin is now neutered - should I just send a copy of the receipt? How are things in Georgia? Marvin is the love of my life. I think everyone thinks I am going a little nutty. But gosh, he is so adorable and smart! He is not quite 5 months and he can sit, down, wait, rollover, shake paw, high five, and come. Here he is, a few weeks ago: When does Anna groom for the first time? He's getting awfully fuzzy. We've trimmed his eyebrows a few times. Does she let those grow out?
Hi Duane and Anna, My husband and I adopted Bella (formerly Pandora's female #3) from you back in February. She is doing wonderfully! I've attached a recent picture. We are starting to think about finding a friend for her. Are all of the puppies from Sienna's litter been spoken for already? She is a beautiful dog. Do you have any updated pictures? I hope your entire family is doing well. We look forward to hearing from you. Thanks, Meredith
Hello- We have recently had Buddy neutered and I just wanted to let you know that I'm sending you the copy of the receipt in the mail from our vet to confirm the procedure. I know that I had asked you a while back for the background information on Buddy's lineage and you said you would be happy to send me all the information you had for our records. If you could just include it with the registration information, that would be great. Just as an update, I had him groomed for the first time yesterday. I was trying to be patient with the hair growing on his head, but everyone (including myself) was bothered by not being able to see his beautiful eyes. So, I stayed with the groomer trying to direct her to what we wanted. We love his black tips on his fur and I was very paranoid about it being clipped off. She was very understanding and though she had not worked with this breed before, did a very nice job. I'm e-mailing you a photo of how he looks today. I wanted to thank you again--this little dog is such a joy in my family's life. I can't believe how in love with him we have all become! I still think from time-to-time that it would be fun to have another, but... we'll have to see--we're just getting over the potty training hump! ha ha. Thanks again- -Very happy owners Chris and George
Hi Duane and Anna Hope all is well. Just wanted to drop you some puppy pictures. Lola is doing great. She was 2.3lbs when I got her and now is a whopping 3.8. She is adorable and so smart. My husband is totally in love with her and I get stopped everywhere I go. Of course she is extremely friendly and things all people and dogs are her friend. I wish you had business cards and I would give them out. Something to think about. Enjoy the photos, I'll drop you an update in a few months. Take care and thanks again for my dogder. (A little twist of the words, she is a cross between my dog and my daughter:) Hope all is well. Just wanted to drop you some puppy pictures. Lola is doing great. Hi Duane and Anna, Attached is a picture of Mulligan (dob 2-19-05, dame:Maddie-sun Sire:Simon) graduating first in his class Enjoy Judy
Hi Duane and Anna, Marvin is doing great! Oh my, what a busy little boy. He had a wonderful time at our cottage up north. He even walked into the water one day and started swimming, much to our surprise! He mastered the 63 steps from the lake up to the cottage - he is quite the athlete. He also loved to go on long walks in the woods with us. Now that we're home, is is quite the sensation in the neighborhood. Really, it's amazing how much attention he gets. It's like a constant dog party, and Marvin is the guest of honor. Tonight he met a puppy just a few months older than him - a schnoddle, and they played like litter mates. That was good for him, so he could stop bugging those big dogs. They are very patient with him, though. He is also keeping me quite busy - it is hard having to keep up with his busy social life and potty schedule.I have decided that Havaneses are the best dogs around. We're madly in love with ours! Carol
Hi Duane and Anna, Hope all is well with you. Chico is doing so very well in California. I have attached two recent pictures – he is just the cutest, sweetest little dog and is loved so much -- and as mentioned in the last email to you, is the hit on my university campus. We are thinking of another puppy so that Chico has a "best friend." He is a little shy with other dogs, not much of an "alpha" male, although he does do a fine job protecting the house. But, it is not clear what sex dog would be good for Chico and would like some advice from you. Given his mild manner with other dogs, do you think it is better for Chico to have a male or a female, or does it not matter? Both of the males you have on the website (Buttercup mom, Tobias dad -- he is also Chico's father) are so cute – and I think would be a great addition for Chico (of course we would take your advice on which one might be best to come home to California). To be honest, I think Michelle and I would be happy with any of the puppies you guys breed, so if you think Chico would do better with a female, then we would be interested in one of the two female's that were just born, if they are not reserved for someone else already. Please let me know your thoughts about which sex and which litter might be best. Thank you in advance! All my best, Tina
Hi! I am attaching the vet's receipt for neutering Wicket (Chewey's male #2). We adore this little guy, as does everyone who meets him! Here's the latest photo. Betsy
Hi Duane, Well Leo has turned 1 year old on May 6th and we had a great birthday party. My kids 95 pound dogs came and we had doggy cake frosty paws ice cream and party hats out on the deck.We have been in Florida since the end of November. Everyone went home with a party bag with a picture of Leo and a bone.So a lot of happy dogs. I would like to ask you what you do with Leo's food after he turns a year old. He has been on the Royal Canine puppy food # 33.Do I put him on the next one up .They have a food called mini for sensitive stomachs and fussy eaters which he can be some times it is #30. Are they all made up of the same grains? Do I have to introduce it slowly? My dad loves Leo and he is a wonderful addition to the family . He was easy to train and never chewed anything which is remarkable since all my other dogs found something to destroy .. I look forward to hearing from you. Kathy
Here's a photo of Mark and Alex at his Puppy class graduation. Love, Lori
Hi Duane, and feel free to use any Buddy photos in person or on your website, if you’re planning to add that feature of photos submitted from owners of your puppies on your site. Here’s another cute one if you’d like to share it. It shows how his coloring matured into a blend of silver and black with brown highlights, which is really beautiful. And now that I know of your website, I’ll pass the URL along to anyone I know looking for a new puppy! Best regards, Jackie
Hi Duane, This is Oscar at 7 months.
Hi Anna & Duane, I hope you are all fine. It seems like a long time since U have talked with you. We are doing great. Cooper and Becka are great by the way. I attatched a pic. of Becka. I hope it come s out. She is so cute!!!! She lost most or almost all of her little black tips and is mostly cream with a little black tipping on the ears. Her personality is by far the best of any dog that I have ever been around. Cooper is awesome too! He has been a great companion for my mom and he is here almost everyday. Becka looks forward to his visits and sometimes he gets sleepovers too! :) Anyways, my husband has a friend who loves Becka so much that he has decided that he really would like to have his own Havanese. So I said I would look around for him. You were the first ones I wanted to check with. I saw some cuties on your web site, but am not sure they are available. He is a really nice guy. Single (recently divorced ) works with my husband and has always had dogs. In fact when I first met him, he had a big dog that he "cooked " for every night. Litterally he grilled steak for him! He also had a small dog that passed on and he misses it. There may be a chance that he would like two if you have two available. Please let me know. Thanks Please say hello to Duane. I still remember how stressed he looked coming off the plane with Becka and Cooper. LOL! Oh PS. My daughter has taught the dogs agility. When she has time she takes them out and they do jumps and coarses. They can really jump!!!! Take Care
I thought you might want to see some pictures i took of Alex at the end of last month. The boys really love him (me too!), and the parrots and he have accepted each other as well. Our African Grey quickly learned to make the sound of a puppy and a squeaky toy to try for some of the attention that Alex was getting. And Alex is so smart and funny! I can't tell you how happy we are with him. Thanks! Lori
Long time no talk! Thought that I would give you an update on Morrie! He seems to be very happy at his new home, mostly because we have turned into dog obsessed crazy people. Morrie has grown so quickly and is at about 10 pounds. He has been taking puppy classes and graduates tonight. He has learned several commands: Sit, Down, Front, Stay, and has learned to play with other puppies. Our seemingly shy dog is no longer that way and has made many dog friends in our classes and in the neighborhood. Interestingly, we taught him a new trick - to roll over. He has taken very well to the training, but now regardless of what we say, he seems to roll over!!! His house training is going very smooth and we have had very few accidents since the first week! Morrie is a very happy addition to our home and we cannot imagine having any other puppy. Hope you enjoy the pictures (we had them professionally taken - dog-crazed and obsessed

Hi Duane and Anna, Thought we'd offer you an update as Chico approaches is first birthday! Chico now weighs a bit over 8 pounds – and he is all muscle. He has the sweetest personality, but is by no means a push over. He still goes to work with Tina almost every day – and he is a hit on campus. See this link: http://www.cgu.edu/pages/1292.asp (scroll all the way to the bottom of the page). If for some reason Tina can't bring him to work, he stays with either one of his two best friends, Ziggy, a 4 year old toy poodle or Maddie, an older medium size mutt. Maddie's mom loves it when Chico is around because he gets the ol' girl up and running! Since moving to Los Angeles, Chico has traveled to New York City, Palm Springs, Berkeley, Mammoth, San Diego –and has run around in both the sand and the snow – both of which he loved. He loves the water and had a blow up pool for most of the summer (that is, until he popped it). Chico's vet says he is a very healthy and happy little fella. As you know, these little creatures are amazing to have around – he makes almost everyone smile. Tina has a sabbatical this Spring and with the extra time off, she plans on volunteering at the local Pasadena Hospital, taking Chico to visit patients. If Chico's mother (Winnie) has another litter sometime soon, please let me know – we are thinking Chico might like a full-time friend (probably a female this time). Happy Holidays to you and your family. All my best, Michelle
Hi, Just wanted to let you know that Barney has settled in to his new family very well. After a few days at our house to see how long he might bark at night, he has moved down the street to my parent's home. He is well on his way to being trained. No more paper around, and he doesn't mess his crate at night. He has made great friends of our two siamese, but my parent's siamese, Lucy, keeps him at a distance. He just loves being out with the leaves, and has delighted all who have met him. He has a great personality and is just so friendly that he wins everybody over. He gets along just fine with the golden retrievers on either side of our house, and they are very respectful of the difference in their size. My parents are enjoying him so much. He fills their day and their hearts. We are so glad to have him. He's just a great puppy. I hope all is going well with your other little ones. I'll send other pictures as he grows. Thanks again. Sue
Daphney is now 14 weeks old and she is quite a character. If I tell her "uh uh" if she's doing somthing she shouldn't be she often puts her two paws over her eyes almost like she's saying "oh no" or "it wasn't me". It's too funny! She looks sweet and innocent but gets into a lot of mischief! hi guys! I swore I wouldn’t become one of those crazy dog people... but I’ve entered Daphney in the WE (that channel on cable) cutest pet contest. I’m excusing it by saying...well it would be nice to get reimbursed for some of the money I spent at PetSmart!!! :) Anyways...here is the link! If you have time Vote for Daphney...10 is cutest!!! I think voting kind of works like American Idol so pass it along!!! Love, Tiffany P.S. It looks like she’s in 9th place out of 20,000 pets!
I wanted to send a few pictures of Charlotte. She has brought so much love and happiness to our family. She is such a great beach dog...she loves Surf City. Thank you for the best dog in the world. Sara
I had to place this other picture of Charlotte here too, as it was toooo cute. Duane
Hi Duane: Just wanted to send you & your wife some pics of Lilly-Sophia. She is a doll & we just love her so much – she is such a BIG part of our family now. Lilly is doing really well in keeping to her in-door training. She really is bright. Has had a couple of misses, but overall, she gets it right about 80% of the time. We keep her sleeping in her crate in the evenings next to our bed on a table & she’s quite content. She will fall asleep at about 10:45-11:00 pm. She’ll wake up “whimpering” about twice in the early morning (about 3:30 am & then by 6:30 am) to want to use the pee-pee pad. I take her out during those times to use the pad & take her back to her crate. It’s not too bad & I’m hoping she will get better at “holding” and sleep more hours in the evening. Overall, she’s doing pretty well. We are however, concerned about her eating. She does not seem to like the dry food even though we mix it with water. We tried to experiment with different dry puppy food with the latest being the Purina Puppy Food. We took her to our nearest vet yesterday because she seemed so lethargic because of her poor eating habit. The vet gave her a moist can food and she lapped it up. I know you caution us to give her dry food, but if we gave her hard biscuits (for puppies) at least twice a day and give her a good amount of “chewing” toys to play with, do you think we should give her moist food from time to time? She laps the water from the dry food and rarely touches the food itself as it is. Please feel free to give us your opinion on this matter as we are obviously “first-time parents” of a puppy. An e-mail or phone call from you will be much appreciated. I can’t tell you how much joy Lilly have given us in such a short span of time – we are so truly enamored by her wit, temperament & if such a word exist; her “adorableness.” We are truly smitten. Thanks so much for introducing such a wonderful breed of dog into our lives – Zoraida, Martin, Matthew & Jonathan
I'm sorry to have not e mailed you before now. What an adventure we've had. Leaving the Atlanta area on a holiday weekend is something we will NEVER do again! A trip that should have taken 6 hours took 12. (your Battlefield is a Great place!!) Our little trooper did fantastic! Didn't get car sick (thanks to dad's good driving and a little fortitude on his part!) and was so sweet the whole way. What a wonderful puppy! We have been home less than 67 hours and we are working on "sit" and "good-boy" for going outside. Being on the grass hasn't been a problem at all. He just loves to be where we are.. What a cuddlier! He and his dad spend part of the day napping in the recliner! Oh, and the neighbors ALL want to baby sit! I have a list a mile long! Thank you all so much. We really LOVE our puppy! Thank your son who handed him to me. I didn't even make eye contact with him after I saw the puppy. He is a gentleman! We will not hesitate to recommend you to friends...hope that is ok. Enjoy the photos. Some more on the way. Darlene & Ken
Hi Duane and Anna, We wanted to get these pictures off to you. We can't believe that Bravo is already a year old! Time has flown by too fast. Bravo is the best and smartest little guy. He knows several tricks and seems to learn them in about 5 minutes (not kidding!). He rings a bell to go outside which is fantastic (no wondering if he has to go out). He draws so much attention whenever we take him anywhere! People want to know what kind of dog he is and sometimes, very rarely, one or two people will know. He is so adorable and everyone seems to fall in love with him. The kids love him and Jake's kindergarden teacher wants Bravo to be in their circus, which will be broadcast on the local TV channel. I have referred many people to you and hope that they too will get a puppy from you. All of those big dog people are very impressed with Bravo, he is a big dog in a little package. He is very athletic he swims in Nana's pool and he loves the beach. We vacationed in Maine this summer and Bravo insisted on Mountain climbing the rocks on the beach. Bravo fits our family to a T! and Duane, you were right Bravo has become best friends with our Cat Midnight! They really seem to love one another. Thank you so much for providing the best dog we have ever had. I want to get another one eventually! Please keep in touch! Thanks so Much! Anne
